Story

Four son-in-laws marry four brides whose four father-in laws mistake every son-in law for Jolly.

I had to give 1 star because there is no lower possible rating. I don't know what sajid khan thinking or (fully drunk) when he made this movie. Did he watch it himself before releasing it? If he did watch it, and still release it, he takes us to be absolutely dumb idiots.

Have you ever tried tickling someone very hard to make him laugh? Well, it felt that way. Only it wasn't tickly, but painful! All the situations, gags, jokes were warped and senseless. I'd rather spend 3 hours watching ants crawling.

The only saving grace was was chunky pandey. His gags did make me smile occasionally. Anyway, I think it is a waste of time writing about the movie. Only, I feel terrible for the unwary ones who are planning to go to watch it.

Everyone's chasing tycoon JD's son 'Jolly' for their daughters - but when four Jollys appear, there's a House-full of confusion!

Sajid Khan is in love - no, it's not what you're thinking. The director of 'Housefull-2' is in love with the movies - especially 1970s Bollywood, all disco-balls, leering villains and hard-chested heroes. Khan mixes this with luscious English locales, PYTs in short shorts, cheeky jokes and star power - and lo. You have 'Housefull-2' - a castle full of mischief under a midnight-blue sky, lovers, fathers, imposters and 'Prince Charles'. For those seeking Albert Einstein, step aside. For those who'd like an apple-pie comedy, all slapstick - and some slap and tickle - Housefull-2's a breeze.

Khan follows Manmohan Desai's funda - give the audience so much, so fast, they'll be too dazzled to carp. It works - most of the time. Housefull-2 opens in London with sibling rivalry between, ahem, the Kapoor brothers (Randhir and Rishi), elder Dabboo 'najayaz' but given part of his father's business, younger Chintu bitterly resentful. The resentment seeps across this house - Rishi's daughter, Heena ( Asin) and Randhir's girl, Bobbie (Jacqueline) at each other's throats. Each brother wants to marry his daughter to tycoon JD's son, 'Jolly' - Riteish who loves full-figured model 'J'Lo' (Zarine) but is too terrified to tell Daddy - Mithun Chakrabarty, striding across his English castle in a starched dhoti, a tycoon who smiles frostily only at Man Friday, Patil (a frothy Lever).

But the Kapoors engage 'Aakhri Pasta' - Housefull-1's Indo-Italian, Chunky Pandey - still wearing skin-tight neon suits, delivering his 'I'm-a-joking!' line with creepy panache. Marriage-fixer Pasta brings an eligible match to Chintu, but playing a vinegary uncle with tang, Kapoor insults the father - with offensive 'African jokes' - landing him in hospital. His son (Talpade) swears revenge, begging buddy Jolly to romance Chintu's daughter, then break it off - but jittery Jolly drags in muscular Max (Abraham) to have him play 'Jolly', employing sleazy Sunny (Kumar) for the other brother to get the same.

The rival Jolly-boys enjoy purani dushmani - but that's forgotten with two hot girls, a crocodile and a desert island that, like a skit in British comedy 'Little Britain', has a luxury resort behind the beach. Yet, some starvation for the clueless girls ensures love and soon, there are four pairs - and four Jollys - hotting things up. With each Punjabi Papa - and one Batuk Patel (Irani, all dimples and nasal inflexion, father of Parul, Talpade's sweetheart - Shahzahn, with more bikinis than lines) - vying for Jolly, the 'dirty dozen' reaches JD's house. But they're walking on water here. JD's got a temper, a dark secret - and a gun.

Housefull-2 is a bag of laughs with eye-candy - Akshay in linens, Jacqueline in minis - and some crackling performances. Mithun commands with sheer presence while the climax belongs to rip-roaring Lever. Riteish plays 'helpless' with flair while a guest scene by '70s veteran Ranjeet - "From rapist to therapist" - provides a vibrant stroke of colour on this house-wall. Abraham manages the muscle-man while Malaika Arora Khan sizzles in 'Anarkali Disco Chali' - and an oomphy little scenario later. But the film belongs to Akshay Kumar who carries off a sharp suit and 'jhaari-mein-chalein' jokes with glossy aplomb. And to Sajid Khan who, despite a smorgasbord of stars, ensures one prevails - the mad storyline. The music (Sajid-Wajid) could have been punchier while some scenes sag. But with cracks like, "Aasman se gire, Khajuraho mein atke," as Akshay parachutes down on his mum-in-law, you can't complain - unless you were looking for Einstein, of course.

Story

Jannat 2 revolves around a smuggler Sonu Delhi KKC who deals in illegal guns. ACP Pratap Raghuvanshi is a sincere police officer who has taken the oath to demolish the illegal guns business. The entire movie moves around Mangal Singh Tomar, the gang leader dealing with the illegal guns and how Sonu Delhi and ACP Pratap Raghuvanshi fight back to demolish the gun smuggling business. Sonu Delhi falls in love with Jhanvi Tomar and how he manages to save his love.

To begin with it is quite nice Jannat can become a genre by itself in Bollywood. I really liked way the characters are built up. Movie has a grip through out and you are not bored every time Hooda and Hashmi are on screen together you feel the excitement where is the plot going to move next. Sure enough the story might be a lift from another movie but the dynamics between the characters is handled very adeptly and makes for a pleasant viewing. Am not a Hashmi fan but after seeing this movie I have to say hats off to him being so faithful to the character and his simple no nonsense acting makes him really likable.

he Bhatts have the utmost number of films which have developed into a victorious franchise. MURDER 2 has hit the bull's eye, JANNAT 2 opens this Friday, while RAAZ 3 and AASHIQUI 2 arrive later this year. So what does a film franchise precisely connote? It symbolizes a series of films wherein the title and certain constituents of a movie remain the same, but the story alters in every installment. JANNAT was about a man's pursuit for heaven, the gluttony to attain the extravagance in life as hastily as possible. But there's a disparity between the two motion pictures. JANNAT explored the dark side of the cricketing world, while JANNAT 2 underlines arms trafficking.

Arms trafficking, also known as gunrunning, is the unlawful trading or smuggling of contraband weapons or ammunition. We have witnessed a number of films on drug trafficking and human trafficking, but arms trafficking has a far more deadly effect on humankind. JANNAT 2 is an unsettling motion picture that exposes the arms trade in the capital. Illegal arms are sold and bought with effortless ease and this film throws light on how the ammunition reaches the hands of the common man. The unlawful weapon trade is a flourishing business that JANNAT 2 enlightens you about. For the first time, I guess, a Hindi movie explores the precarious issue, with a stimulating romance elegantly interlaced in the narrative.

Much like Bhatts' past endeavors that borrow from factual life, JANNAT 2 is a well-explored theme. Thematically, there is a traceable semblance with the Nicolas Cage starrer LORD OF WAR, which was about international arms trading. Conversely, JANNAT 2 is very desi at heart and strives to shed light on the illicit weapons trade in North India. JANNAT 2 is a compelling account of a conflicted man who ultimately faces the effects of his deeds. The movie advocates that firearms and cartridges are the actual perpetrators accountable for the fatalities and killings of blameless people. JANNAT 2 is ingeniously fashioned and skillfully filmed, while the characters are pertinent and compelling.

Sonu [Emraan Hashmi] is a smooth-talking street-smart gunrunner, who has the gift of the gab and knows his trade inside out. ACP Pratap [Randeep Hooda] is a hardened maverick cop, who has a personal vendetta against the gun nexus. He will go to any lengths to crack down this nexus and he handpicks Sonu to do this job, as he is the perfect candidate to enter this racket undercover and expose everybody involved in the unlawful weapon trade.

Sonu falls in love with a young doctor Jhanvi [Esha Gupta] along his journey and that throws his life's course into a tailspin with unforeseen and far-reaching consequences for all three of them.

Emraan is not merely the protagonist of JANNAT 2, in view of the fact that the entire film is told from his standpoint, he's also the chronicler of the film, guiding the viewer through the events of the movie and in actual fact unraveling the story on screen. While the movie relies profoundly on Emraan's amazing abilities, director Kunal Deshmukh and writer Shagufta Rafique deserve brownie points for the movie's visual technique and taut writing. The duo justly enlighten us about the millions involved in the illegal trade and how many hands a single bullet passes through on its trip from its creation to its ultimate destructive use. JANNAT 2 is not a light-hearted movie or an action flick as the trailers may try to depict. Some of those elements are also part of it, but at the end of it all, the motion picture has a persuasive message to transport. An incredibly compelling film on a solemn issue!

While the first hour of the movie sets up the stage for a fascinating second hour, it's actually the intermission point that literally sets the ball rolling. Kunal and Shagufta reserve the best for the post-interval portions. The drama is captivating and the graph of the film only scales uphill. The twists and turns in the plot [followed by a super suspense towards the end] and the vital chase sequence in the dargah form the major highlights of the film. In fact, getting the second hour right is nothing short of a challenge for film-makers and a majority of films stumble and stagger in this hour, but not JANNAT 2. The tempo is consistent throughout; maintaining the undercurrent of anxiety unswervingly. There's no tedious moment, it keeps the spectator absolutely engrossed in the on-screen occurrences. The Northern flavor coupled with the acidic dialogue [Sanjay Masoom], lingo and abundant usage of expletives makes it appear so very bona fide. All things considered I must adjoin at this juncture that every part of the lavish praise and plentiful admiration for this spellbinding fare goes to its proficient director, Kunal Deshmukh.

JANNAT 2 is a tremendous album, with Pritam delivering a rich soundtrack. The placement of songs is most appropriate as well. I'd like to make a special mention of the background score [Raju Singh]. It's electrifying! The DoP's [Bobby Singh] contribution is commendable. His images are so significant to the attitude of the motion picture. Ditto for the action and chase sequences [Javed-Ejaz].

Emraan Hashmi plays Sonu Dilli, a street-smart brat who is a combination of fortitude and charisma, effortlessly. Trust me, you cannot envision anyone else doing what he does. Emraan, with his credible act, makes the devil seem charming and wickedness, charismatic. In fact, the actor is sure to astonish you with the mellowness of his performance. Randeep Hooda made you sit-up and notice his talent in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI and SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER and now, once again in JANNAT 2, the actor delivers yet another knockout performance. He dominates in several sequences, making you realize that if given an opportunity, the guy can steal the thunder from the best of actors.

Debutante Esha Gupta enchants you with her captivating charm. She appears a tad unrefined at places, nonetheless she handles her part assertively. Manish Chaudhuri, who was wicked as hell in the recent BLOOD MONEY, outshines himself in JANNAT 2. He's simply superb! Brijendra Kala is admirable as Randeep's trusted colleague. Sumit Nijhawan, as Sarfaraz, is effective. Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, as Emraan's friend Balli, is top notch. Arif Zakaria is excellent.

On the whole, JANNAT 2 is an engaging film with tremendous appeal for the masses. An absorbing story, a swift and coherent narrative, exemplary direction, fantastic action, soothing music and stellar performances summarize the highlights of this triumphant franchise.

Story
Kolkata is abuzz with the preparations for the annual Durga Puja festival, as seven months pregnant Vidya Bagchi steps off the airplane from London. Her first stop is the local police station to file a missing person report. Weeks ago, her husband Arnab arrived in India for a job assignment. The first two weeks, they talked daily on the phone, and then without explanation, his calls stopped. Everywhere Vidya turns, no one can remember Arnab. There is no trace of him at the guest house or his workplace. But Vidya will not give up her search. Somewhere in Kolkata she will discover the dangerous truth.

Bollywood is branded for creating movies from a male perspective. The women's stories are not really exemplified conscientiously. But, out of the blue, the women-centric flicks is fast turning out to be a bankable genre. KAHAANI is a commanding story, has an authoritative central character, has several dominant and thought-provoking moments, which makes it an all-persuasive film. Vidya Balan makes Kahaani come alive. It is several notches above the stuff we've been subjected to in the past. The movie triumphs in evoking emotions. You experience compassion, resentment, defenselessness and triumph at a variety of stages. A wonderful movie-going experience, you come out feeling a sense of pride, pleasure and fulfillment after having watched KAHAANI. There no surprise if Vidya get all the best actress awards in 2013 also. Just do not miss it. Hugely recommended!

Filming took place on the streets of Kolkata with Ghosh often employing the art of guerrilla filmmaking (shooting in real locations without any previous knowledge given to onlookers) to avoid unwanted attention. Ghosh chose a completely new team to work with, barring the music composers Vishal-Shekhar as he thought the presence of a fresh crew would always keep him on his toes. He thought people who he knew too well from before might influence him to overlook mistakes in film making. The film was shot continuously in a schedule of 64 days including the Durga Puja festival days of 2010 in Kolkata. The climax, which takes place on the night of Vijayadashami (last day of Durga Puja), was actually shot on the night of Vijayadashami in the premises of a Barowari (publicly organized) Durga Puja celebration in the Ballygunge neighborhood of Kolkata. Most of the crowd in the climax were non-actors. Some actors mingled with the crowd—their job was to appreciate the camera angles and accordingly apply sindoor (verm

ilion) on Balan's face so that accidental exposure of her eyes to sindoor could be avoided. The director admitted that one challenge was to deal with the people who did not have any inkling about the on-going shooting, and often stared straight at the camera or the characters. The sequences in Kolkata Metro were shot in a span of 4 days

The guest house where the protagonist stayed in the film was chosen by Ghosh, who happened to see the three-storied building through the window of a neighboring hotel on an evening in April 2010. The place was later booked for a schedule of 10 days for 40,000 (US$724). Ghosh chose a room with windows overlooking a busy road and gave the place an old-fashioned look by replacing the designer grills of the window in the room with old-fashioned wooden ones, and by painting the room with some rough patches. The guest house employees were requested to keep the shooting schedule a secret

Vidya Bagchi arrives in Kolkata from London to find her missing husband. Seven months pregnant and alone in a festive city, she begins a relentless search for her husband. With nothing to rely on except fragments from her memories about him, all clues seem to reach a dead end when everyone tries to convince Vidya that her husband does not exist. She slowly realises that nothing is what it seems. In a city soaked in lies, Vidya is determined to unravel the truth about her husband.

We have heard of black-ops undercover agent from CIA, KGB, DA etc, etc.. But probably for the first time in the history of Indian film industry we have a film where Intelligence Buro of India and National Data Center of India have been brought in main stream cinema. Kahaani is a nifty thriller with an enjoyment quotient that is indirectly proportionate to how long you spend thinking about the plot. It has a clear one line plot - a woman in search of her missing husband. And the filmmaker has promoted that well enough in the promos itself. So it becomes really important to maintain the attention of the audience and keep the thrill quotient high. Sujoy Ghosh excels in both the departments

Kahaani is the story of Vidya Bagchi, a software programmer from London played by Vidya Balan, who is both heavily pregnant and missing a husband. She arrives in Kolkata and heads straight to the police station from the airport - a fact remarked upon by the cab driver who is intrigued and bemused by her. So are the cops. Vidya insists on staying at a seedy guesthouse, which proudly advertises running hot water because the employees include a young boy who runs to the rooms with a kettle of hot water. Vidya is helped in her quest by an earnest cop Rana, played by Parambrata Chattopadhyay. But her husband seems to have disappeared into thin air - there are no school records, no relatives, no immigration records for Arnab Bagchi. Director Sujoy Ghosh, who has co-written the story with Advaita Kala, keeps the tension tight and the volte-faces, frequent. Early in the film, Rana tells Vidya that everyone in Kolkata has two names, which here literally translates into two separate identities. So no one is what he cla
ims to be. I especially enjoyed the unveiling of a dumpy-looking insurance agent. Ghosh cleverly uses Vidya's pregnancy - every time she trips or even sweats too hard, you become afraid - and the city of Kolkata to engage us in his story. All the tourist attractions from Victoria Memorial to Howrah Bridge to Durga Puja are duly ticked off. But this is the first time the city seems dangerous and ominously frenzied - so much that even getting a cab at the airport is fraught with strain.

One of the key elements in Kahaani is its casting. Except for Vidya Balan, the rest of the cast is either new or from the Bengali film industry. Each and every actor excels in the film and is a perfect fit to the role. A special mention of Nawazuddin Siddiqui who does an outstanding job as the crude and stern intelligence officer Ayaz Khan. Even Parambatta Chattopadhyay with his innocent smiles and matured expressions was aptly chosen for the role of Rana, an intelligent Assistant Sub inspector.

The frame of the view was very cleverly focused on the characters to keep the viewers engrossed to the story. Wide angles were used very few times to capture the city. However at times various aspects of Kolkata were projected which did not have any relevance to the story. Director Sujoy Ghosh has cleverly used the frame to take the viewers on a tour around Kolkata while narrating the story.

More than the ending climax, where the entire mystery unveils itself, the last shot before the interval deserves special mention. Mrs Bagchi being pushed in front of the running metro rail. It does create a shock on the viewers however soon to realize the fact that how can the lead actor of the story die without completing the mission. To be honest, while watching a movie, human realization of the obvious takes a back seat and hence 95% of the viewers came rushing back from the refreshment area even before the lights were turned out.

Screen play and story: well I must say that story writer Sujoy Ghosh, Advaita Kala has done a commendable job of taking in to account the integrities of the undercover agents training and their attention to details while spinning the story around those behaviors. At any place basic black-ops training requires the individual to observe number of people present, objects that can be used as rout maps, exit points, understand human psyche and use all of these to adapt themselves to the surroundings. Mrs. Bagchi’s reference to the blue peacock at the guest house: she did observe the statue while entering the guest house. She used the information of the school where Vishnu used to visit to her benefit. Wiping all figure prints and leave no traces behind. Tea glasses in Milind’s room – the local tea vendor will have information about Milind. In the last scene the one arm blow to the knee and driving the pencil down Milind’s dragon vein – ordinary people knows about it but executing the same requires special combat t
raining. Hats off to the writers.

Vidya Balan delivered a near perfect pregnant woman with occasionally falling out of breath, walking with legs apart. However many times her brisk walks through the narrow lanes of Kolkata and fast paced actions made me question is she really pregnant? That got answered by the end of the movie.

The movie keeps the viewers at the edge of their seats trying to predict the twist in the tale which makes them over look directorial mistakes: Milind testing the deadly gas on the animals – acceptable, terrorists do that however the gas deadly enough to kill human-beings should not be tested with only a breath mask usually this requires a whole body suit specially when it’s evident that the terrorist has access to a testing lab. All special agents are trained to take out their hand weapon and to remove the safety lock with only one move and in the movie Milind, a trained special black-ops agent, removes the gun and we hear the sound of the safety lock removal much later. After breaking Milinds’ leg, Mrs. Bagchi finds his gun and the magazine on the ground next to each other. Did Milind forget to load the gun before taking off the safety lock? Or was this deliberately done so that Mrs. Bagchi can load the gun make the cocking sound before killing the villain? Well MR Sujoy Ghosh would be the right person to a

Background score: “Ami Shotti Bolchi” & “Akla Cholo Re” created magic with Kolkata on the back drop and Vidya Balan taking the entire film on her own shoulders and delivering yet another brilliant performance. The background score during the climax scenes had traces of “The Bourne Trilogy” theme.

Story
Every man's dream: an adult life in the midst of bras and panties. One look at a woman, and he knows her size. Reality check: Farhad Pastakiya, a 45-year-old golden-hearted Parsi bachelor working as a bra and panty salesman, has never found love. The only women in his life are his dominating mother Nargis and doting grandmother Siloo. The world has given up on him, but Farhad has never given up hope. One day a 34B walks into his shop, and it's love at first sight. Shirin Fugawala, a 40-year-old, bubbly, straightforward, Parsi trust secretary, is Farhad's soul mate, but destiny intervenes in the form of a demolished water tank. All hell breaks loose as Farhad's mother Nargis realizes that her son's dream girl is her sworn enemy

Farah Khan and Boman Irani play out those eternal romantic moments, but with a twist
For all those waiting with bated breath for the Farah Khan item number from Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, the coveted moment has finally arrived! And guess what, the fun has doubled ‘coz not only our fancy footed Farah but also the adorable Boman Irani will be seen dancing to the funky beats of this Usha Uthup number Ramba mein Samba.

But while we applaud the upbeat tune, we couldn’t help going gaga about the Shirin-Farhad flavour sprinkled generously over the romantic moments. The cute jodi of Shirin Figawala and Farhad Pastakiya relive all those romantic scenes that Shahrukh Khan-Kajol (in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwaale Dulhania Le Jaayenge) and Salman Khan-Madhuri Dixit (in Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!) eternalised years ago.

And yes, to the delight of all mush-lovers, the moments have been tweaked to perfection! Peppered with glitches and twists that only the cute Irani couple could portray, Farah and Boman bring a smile

Destiny played a major role in Farah Khan turning heroine with 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi'. When Farah was offered the role by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, she took it casually and said yes thinking the film would never go on floors. However, she was surprised when Bhansali reverted to her with the exact plan and shooting schedule.
"I had no wish to become an actress though I had done a cameo or two here and there. When Sanjay first told me about the film, I was surprised. I said yes thinking no one will fund where Boman (Irani) was the hero and I was the heroine. I thought the film would never go on floors," Farah told PTI.
But once she was in, Farah was sure that Bhansali and his sister Bela Seghal, who is turning director with the film, will make a nice movie.
"I am someone who is totally unlike a heroine. Even in the parties, I may just put a lip gloss by mistake but that's about it. In fact, photo shoots make me die. But I knew that since Sanjay was the producer, he would make a quality movie. Also, I knew that his sister wanted to make this movie for years so she would put her life to make it happen."
Boman Irani's presence as a co-star helped Farah feel comfortable about the film. Farah knew that she could trust him to pull her out of tricky situations if she ever got stuck.
"Because of Boman being the hero, there was a definite comfort factor. We have been friends for so many years so I knew that as an on-screen 'jodi' we could not go wrong. Boman has this positive energy that makes things comfortable."
Meanwhile Farah is currently busy promoting two of her films. While in 'Shirin Farhad...' she would be seen as an actress, she has also produced 'Joker' which releases exactly a week later on August 31.
"I am looking after the promotion of 'Joker' though everything else from the scratch to the final copy is being taken care of by Shirish. All that I have done during the making is choreograph the songs and then work with artists for
their dates. I was the human resources manager for the film," she said.
Close on the heels of the blockbuster success of their last venture, ROWDY RATHORE, comes SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI, produced by corporate giants Eros International and SLB Films. While ROWDY RATHORE was a big budgeted 'masala' action drama, SFKTNP is a small budget, heartwarming, romantic comedy drama starring the highly versatile Boman Irani and ace choreographer-turned-director-turned-actress Farah Khan, as the highly unusual lead pair. The strange paring does prove that Bollywood is finally coming-of-age.
Music has always been a strong point in all Sanjay Leela Bhansali films, and the chartbusting songs of ROWDY RATHORE can still be heard, though (almost) two months have passed since the release of the film. So we do hope for some lovely melodious numbers from the talented, Jeet Ganguly, who has been assigned the task of composing music for the film. And helping him in the endevour is one of the most popular lyricist of recent times, Amitabh Bhattacharya, the new age Gulzar! So let's see if they can spring a surprise and come up with music that is memorable, especially as SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI is director Bela Sehgal's (sister of SLB) debut venture, and so expectations are bound to be high!
The album opens with a totally romantic outing, 'Ishq Mein Tere Bina', and that is hardly surprising as the film is a romantic comedy drama, albeit the lead protagonists are not the typical Bollywood stereotypes. It's the highly talented duo KK and Shreya Ghoshal who lend their voices to this quick paced, breezy love song that has a nice tune attached to it. The musical arrangement by Jeet Ganguly has a Spanish feel (Salsa) to it and strong guitar stringing along with some amazing percussions make for a good first number, although one did expect the album to open with a chartbusting number, as is the norm these days. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are filmy and very routine.
The light romantic mood gets a further upswing with Shreya Ghoshal's whispery sweet vocals in 'Khatti Meethi'. And one must admit that it's Shreya who is the star of this song as she rises above the 'many times heard before tune' and puts so much feeling and emotions in the number that it sounds quite good. The musical settings are top notch with a great acoustic guitar and organ sounds and beads that enhance the romantic backdrop further. Amitabh Bhattacharya gets to redeem himself this time and his lyrics are quite unique and poetic as well and it is in keeping with the new trend of Hinglsih lyrics in mind.

Lovely guitar strums and piano notes kick start proceedings of 'Kaafir Andhere' , a sad situational number that has a haunting melody to go along side it. However it's the superb all out soft rock that transforms to hard rock in the 'mukhda' that is the highlight of the track. Although one tends to be reminded of Pritam's many a heartbroken rock laden number, and that is quite understandable as we all know that Jeet was once associated with Pritam. However it hardly matters as KK outshines just about everything and his vocals, which are full of pathos, agony and feelings just takes the song to the next level. He is simply superb in the amazing crescendo where he sings in his most loved high pitched style. Amtabh's lyrics once again are situational and in keeping with the sad mood of the song.

All out techno and electronica beats commence 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi', a track which has been heard many times during the promotional videos and trailers of the movie, and its infectious beat has caught the attention of the listeners. The song sounds similar to 'Woh Sikandar Hi Doston' (JO JEETA WAHI SIKANDAR) in the first few lines, however the rest of the composition is simply rocking, especially in the 'mukhda' which is so very rhythmic and breezy. And above all it has Neeraj Sridhar who is just superb in his characteristic most popular style that has made him the voice behind countless chartbusters.

Light guitar strums welcome 'Kuku Duku', a song that has a strong retro feel to it and reminds in parts of Kishore Kumar's 'Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhagi Si' (CHALTI KA NAAM GADI). It even has Kishore da's 'yodling 'in some parts. Mohit Chauhan's hauntingly carefree base vocals (at times he sounds like Anu Malik) and Amitabh Bhattacharya hilariously innovative lyrics are the USP of the song and as such it is quite a unique song in itself, although the situation - boy meeting girl- is very routine but Mohit and Amitabh have succeeded in making this an interesting composition.
Composer Jeet Ganguly has certainly saved the best for last, and it's vintage Usha Uthup at her 'masti' and 'dhamal' best in 'Ramba Mein Samba', that can climb the charts, especially if the film strikes rich at the box-office; all thanks to Usha's full on attitude, energy and zestful rendition which can indeed serve as a tutorial for all the young singers. Lyrics by guest lyricist Faraz Ali are zany, whacky and very humorous and at times quite ingenious and serve the purpose. Once again Jeet takes the retro root to success with the entirely situational club song that takes the listener back to the Geeta Dutt days. It's a sort of celebration number that will certainly look bombastic on screen and one does expect Farah (the choreographer) to give her inputs and make this a lively joyous affair.

In totality, the music album of SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI is a mixed bag with songs that are more situational and in keeping with the script and story of the film in mind. Moreover there is no 'instant' chartbuster that can serve as a propeller for the album to make a mark. But thankfully the title track is slowly but surely becoming quite a hit, and with just the right kind of promotion songs like "Ishq Mein Tere Bina" and "Khatti Meethi"can also achieve popularity.

Story

A well-heeled family from tony neighborhood of New Delhi travels from the city through dusty roads that lead into the village in Haryana, far out and buried in the debris of the past. Shreya, the tomboy of the family, finally arrives at her father’s village for the first time during her vacations, that too after coaxing her father, Dev, to the best of her abilities. She and her brother, Sam, had, in their imagination, spun the village right out of a fairytale, replete with streams, lakes and grasslands that will allow them to run free. But all they find are dusty alleys, dried up ponds and hostile playmates until they spin their magic and befriend this unknown place, especially some of its people, like the Pehelwan and the gang of kids led by Ajithe. The story revolves around Shreya and Sam’s adventures and misadventures which turn this dull place bereft of water into a land of enchantment, mischief and a million exciting exploits. But unknown places have many secrets, and here too, secret lurk at every corner. Strangely-behaving villagers, a witch whom everyone seems to be terrified of, and a no-access zone beyond the hills intrigue Shreya, more so after housemaid Shabri tells her various mysterious stories about the village. Then, one night, Shreya sees Shabri and her husband Trilochan slink away, and starts following them, only to find out a horrifying secret the village harbors.

Story

Kabir Khan's movies—Kabul Express; New York, Ek Tha Tiger start with the similar sepia-toned skyline montages of what could be Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq; strife-ridden country associated with extremists. In ETT, the montages pass quickly. A voice-over tells you of how Governments fight shadow battles of espionage and intrigue with faceless agents.

Cut to India's finest RAW (Research & Analysis Wing) agents Tiger--Salman Khan. He enters the screen, dramatically, shoes first, kicking butt in a crowded bazaar; with his trade-mark checked scarf around his neck. He ambushes a handful of traitors single-handedly in a long-drawn high octane action sequence that is clearly inspired by Jason Bourne(Bourne Identity/Supremacy series) and James Bond ( Quantum of Solace). Mission one successfully completed Tiger returns home to a middle-class neighbourhood in New Delhi.

Barely have his wounds from Iraq healed when his boss, Girish Karnad, (impressive performance) packs him of to Ireland to spy on a professor (Roshan Seth) who may be trading missile technology secrets with Pakistan.

Before he sets out, the boss ominously warns Tiger how agents must never let their hearts rule their head. But when Cupid strikes even Tigers become pussy-cats. The spy is drawn to college girl Zoya( Katrina Kaif) and he's almost ready to settle down with her, when the twist in the plot is revealed. Kat is a secret agent for the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence); she owes allegiance to India's archenemy Pakistan.

Post interval, ETT goes on to focus on the Tiger-Zoya romance. Since they have unfinished business, the plot allows them to lock eyes at a peace summit in Istanbul. Passions are rekindled. This time they let their own feelings rule and elope. Chased by their own people and the enemy, the couple traipse in Cuba and other foreign locales, riding bikes and cuddling up while some lack-lustre songs play in the backdrop. One must say there is nothing raw about the Kat-Sallu romance in ETT; it's synthetic.

Leaving the plot open for a sequel, just in case Salman's fans demand one; ETT ends with telling you how Tiger's file went missing because, once this super-spy decided to go off the radar, no intelligence agency could actually track him down.
