Story

Explores the origins of the first "Frankenstein" car driver, Carl "Luke" Lucas, who died in a race at the beginning of the first film.

After a bank robbery goes bad Carl Lucas (Goss) gets sent to prison. The crime boss who sent him out (Bean) is afraid he will testify against him and sends in assassins to the prison to make sure he doesn't. First of all, if you haven't seen the first "Death Race" I would start with that (you will get some of the call-backs), but I would say its more like the "Star Wars" prequels...you can watch in either order and it will still make sense. I loved the first movie and was very leery about a direct to DVD prequel, but I was very surprised. There were a couple characters from the first one, along with a few "set-ups" that happen in the original movie. I would say this is more of an origin story, it explains the origins of the death race and the character of Frankenstein. Most sequels/prequels are never as good as the original (especially direct to DVD ones), but this is a rare exception. The first Death Race is still the better movie but this one holds up very well.

Terminal Island is a prison under the control of The Weyland Corporation, which hosts Death Match, a televised pay-per-view competition where two dangerous convicts are chosen and then forced to fight to the death or submission. The prisoners are given access to weapons or defense items to use during the fight by stepping on a marked plate in the arena. Luke meets the men who eventually become his pit crew in the Death Race: Lists (Frederick Koehler), who annoys him by over-analyzing everything, Goldberg (Danny Trejo), and Rocco (Joe Vaz). The host of Death Match is September Jones (Lauren Cohan), a former Miss Universe who lost her crown due to allegations of having a sexual relationship with all of its judges. She now works for The Weyland Corporation to create profit from the pay per view subscribers of Death Match. When a convict, Big Bill, tries to stab Luke for a bounty placed by Markus Kane to ensure he doesn't testify, Lists takes it upon himself to warn him. Lists pushes Luke against a wall just as t
he other convict approaches, enabling Luke to defend himself successfully.

Luke is later approached in the showers by September, who witnessed him in the earlier scuffle, and proposes that he fight in Death Match. When he refuses, she makes sexual advances towards him, which he pretends to go for before refusing. In retaliation, September chooses Lists to fight in a Death Match with Big Bill. Luke confronts her while Lists is running for his life during the event, pleading to let him fight in place of Lists. She refuses to help and he jumps over a barbed fence to fight for Lists. He is joined by Katrina Banks (Tanit Phoenix), a woman convict who is serving as a ring girl with other female convicts. She hits Big Bill with a round number sign made of metal. A riot breaks out during the fight between Luke and the convict because of racial tension, sparked because Luke is white and the other convict is black. The convicts break down the fence to get in, and some of the rapists attack and attempt to rape female convicts. Katrina defends herself and helps other women, who are then evacuat
ed. When the riot control guards come, Luke surrenders. Afterward, Luke is well received when he sees Katrina and inquires about her well-being after the fight.

Markus sees Luke during the showing of Death Match and is convinced that it is only a matter of time before Luke cracks and testifies. He increases pressure on his men and puts a bounty of $1 million on Luke's head. Meanwhile, September comes up with a plan to boost their profits by converting the failing Death Match into a "Death Race", where the contestants will have to race over days to win each match. The person who manages to win five such matches will be released from prison. Luke joins the race, during which other prisoners try to kill him to earn Markus's bounty. During the race, he notices that another racer, 14K, is the only one not trying to kill him since they don't do business with other crime rings. Luke ends up saving 14K, telling Katrina that 14K now owes him one. However, during the race they realize that their car has been rigged to not work any of its defenses or weapons. Katrina even admits that Markus offered her a reward if she killed Luke. When Big Bill attacks Luke, Luke gets Katrina t
o jettison out of the car safely just before Big Bill fires a missile at Luke. Luke's car crashes and catches fire, leading everyone to believe that he is dead. In reality, he survives with extensive scarring to his face and body. September then convinces him to rejoin a new race as the masked "Frankenstein" by threatening both him and Katrina.

Meanwhile, 14K sends word to the Triad to repay his debt to Luke, "a life for a life," and manages to kill Markus. Also, Lists kills Rocco in the shower house after discovering he rigged Luke's car. Frankenstein then kills September by running her over with his car during a race, much to the pleasure of many of the people she blackmailed, used or seduced to get what she wants. The movie ends with Frankenstein starting his race with both Lists and Katrina inferring that Luke is Frankenstein

Universal Pictures has revealed that the straight-to-DVD "Death Race" prequel has started principal photography in South Africa and will focus on the Frankenstein character.

It stars Luke Goss (as Frankenstein), Ving Rhames, Sean Bean, Danny Trejo, Frederick Koehler and Lauren Cohan. Roel Reine (The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe) is directing from a script by Tony Giglio (Chaos).

Plot: 'Death Race 2' takes place in the very near future, as the United States economy begins to decline and violent crime starts to spiral out of control. To contain the growing criminal population, a vast network of for-profit, private prisons springs up, creating a lawless subculture ruled by gangs, cold-blooded killers and sociopaths. The worst of these prisons is Terminal Island.

Convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas (Goss) arrives on the Island to serve his life sentence just as ruthlessly ambitious television personality September Jones launches the ultimate reality show, Death Race. A brutal prison yard demolition derby that pits prisoners against each other in steel reinforced, heavily armed vehicles, Death Race offers the winner the ultimate prize: freedom if he can survive to enjoy it. When Lucas signs up to be a driver, the stage is set for the birth of a legendary racer.

That particular question has already been answered in the pre-credits sequence to the 2008 Jason Statham vehicle and franchise-reboot Death Race, where, lest we forget, metal-masked anti-hero Frankenstein (or at least, his original incarnation) crossed the line in a fiery ball of doom before the opening credits had even finished.

‘What’s that loser’s story?’ was the thought that was at no point crossing anyone’s mind. The mistake Roel Reiné’s film makes is that it assumes you care enough about who that bloke was to watch what is essentially his shrugtastic origin story, taking place a few years prior to its predecessor.

The back-story about how Terminal Island went from a regular high-security prison to a high-security prison that doubles as a post-apocalyptic Nascar facility is tediously unravelled in a film that mindlessly repeats every beat of the first one, and with less flamboyance.

Filling the formidable boots of The Stath, whose absence is keenly felt, is boyband exdrummer Luke ‘Bros’ Goss as Carl ‘Luke’ Lucas (“Even his name gives me a hard-on,” blathers someone at one point), a crack Transporter-style getaway driver banged up after a bank job goes horribly wrong, then manipulated into racing for his freedom against a dystopian-US backdrop.

Death Race 2 is so bone-brained, it even manages to make Paul ‘What Script?’ Anderson’s original remake look like an overlooked cult classic by comparison.

Despite his laminated, manicured features, Goss does have a skin-crawling, Walken-esque screen presence – he carries the film through its more face-palm moments and its videogame cut-scene narrative.

But Reiné has otherwise assembled a piece of cinematic anti-matter that, though it has its guiltily enjoyable moments – particularly the Beyond Thunderdome-style gladiatorial Death Matches, which the Death Races evolved into – is inferior to the original movie in every respect.

Gone is Ian McShane’s grizzled grease monkey, replaced by Danny Trejo’s wisecracking, spanner-wielding idiot. The film’s anti-climactic racing scenes are akin to watching someone else’s drunken game of Mario Kart.

The acting is (even more) awful. The dialogue is stupid. Even the girls aren’t as hot. So it’s left to Sean ‘See Wot Yow Can Dow’ Bean to chew scenery for Yorkshire as scowly mob boss Markus Kane – whether he’s berating minions or smashing up TVs in fits of pique like some apoplectic, Sheffield-born Nicolas Cage, he provides welcome respites from all the prison-based dullness

Story

An animal-loving volunteer and a small-town news reporter are joined by a native Alaskan boy to rally an entire community - and

I haven’t yet seen the movie Big Miracle, which dramatizes the rescue of two of these whales, but from what I understand, it focuses almost exclusively on the events in Alaska involving the Inuit community of Barrow who were whale hunters, various government and industry people, and a very passionate Greenpeace wildlife campaigner in Alaska – Cindy Lowry (characterized as Rachel in the movie).  I will, therefore, avoid any comments on how this film blends or blurs fact and fiction in their movie.  I would like to share some of what I went through during those intense days, mostly behind the scenes.  My pack-rat habits have aided this account, as I unearthed the notebook that I kept during this time to refresh some memories.  Anne Dingwall – my supervisor at Greenpeace at the time helped me remember some more. For people who want to learn more about this whole story, I recommend the book “Freeing the whales: How the media created the world’s greatest non-event” by Tom Rose.

By the time this story hit the national news, it seemed the whales had been isolated in their few remaining holes for a week, and observers thought that they could only last for a few more days.  The technical objective was breaking through five miles (8km) of ice between the whales and the open leads in the ocean.  I got a quick education from my colleagues in navigating the often dicey relations between Greenpeace, native Alaskan whale hunters, oil companies, biologists, journalists, and a diverse assortment of officials from the state and federal government and military was going to be equally challenging.

The first obvious solution to this problem was to find an icebreaker that could clear a path through the sea ice to the whales.  I quickly found out that the U.S. Government wasn’t going to be able to help with this.  It only had two ships that might be strong enough for the job; one of them was several hundred miles away, heading away from Barrow and stuck in the ice itself.  The only other Coast Guard icebreaker was undergoing repairs in distant Seattle.  Hopes of scoring a private icebreaker didn’t last long either.  The Amoco oil company had one, but it was guarding a drill ship over 150 miles (240km) away.

From Day 1, I began brainstorming with Ed Simmons, who had been the manager of Greenpeace’s first Rainbow Warrior, about ways to break through the ice or other ways get the whales out.  Other people began calling in from all over the country with their suggestions.  I talked with them all never knowing if the next idea was going to be whacky or brilliant.  These included explosives, a high-speed water drill used to cut concrete, a portable laser, jet pumps, a PASER – particle steam erosion device used for cutting glass and steel, and a mining machine with rotating teeth.  Other approaches we considered were airlifting the whales out on slings, and attracting the whales to freedom with whale sounds.  Some were intriguing, but turned out not to be workable because we couldn’t get the right equipment there in time, they posed too much danger to the whales, and/or they would need more energy to run than would be available on the ice.

We were left with two solid ideas.  One – the Veeco company, which supports the oil industry, was willing to provide a hover barge that could conceivably help break a path through the ice closest to the whales that was less than a foot thick.  The inescapable reality, though, was that we also needed a way to break through a pressure ridge between the whales and the sea that was over 35 feet thick.  If there was no icebreaker available from the U.S. government or industry, we needed to ask the Soviet Union if they had one that could help.

Our initial conversations with the U.S. Government to pursue this latter option were not encouraging.  President Reagan was not known for his love for the Soviet Union, and the idea of asking this Communist giant to send one or more of their ships into U.S. waters to help save two whales seemed absurd.  The U.S.S.R. was killing up to 169 of these grey whales a year – supposedly to provide traditional food for nati

One person calling in said that she had an in with industrialist Armand Hammer, who supposedly had good connections with the Russians.  She called back very frustrated, though, with a report that Mr. Hammer’s secretary had been rude to her.ves on their side of the Beaufort Sea, but Greenpeace had shown only four years before that most of these whales were in fact being used to feed mink in a fur ranch next to the whaling station.  If the U.S. government couldn’t figure out a way to save these whales themselves, then perhaps the Alaskan natives could just go ahead and harvest them to supplement their take of bowhead whales.

Full Story

In ancient China, Han, a brutal and tyrannical warlord, unites the country's kingdoms into an empire and becomes The Dragon Emperor. He orders the construction of the Great Wall of China to bury and curse his dead enemies. The Emperor's mystics teach him supernatural mastery over the Five Elements. Years later, Emperor Han begins to grow fearful that all he has accomplished will be lost upon his death. He hears of a sorceress, Zi Yuan, who is said to know the secret of immortality and sends his right-hand man, General Ming Guo, to bring the sorceress to the palace. Ming finds Zi Yuan and they fall in love. After Zi Yuan supposedly casts a spell on the Emperor in Sanskrit, a language he does not understand, he has Ming torn apart by horses and impales Zi Yuan with a dagger. Revealing that she has foreseen these events, Zi Yuan immolates and detains the Emperor and transforms his army into the Terracotta Army, and the sorceress flees.
In 1946, Alex O'Connell, the son of Rick and Evelyn O'Connell, locates Emperor Han's tomb with the financial backing of Professor Roger Wilson, an archaeology professor. There, three assistants are killed by various traps, and Alex is attacked by an unknown woman, but succeeds in bringing the Emperor's coffin to Shanghai. Meanwhile, the British government entrusts the O'Connells to take the Eye Of Shangri-La back to China. It is later revealed that Wilson is in league with a rogue military faction led by General Yang and his second-in-command, Choi, who see the Emperor as the only one who can bring order and greatness back to China. The mysterious woman from the tomb attacks the mummified Emperor in his coffin, which turns out to be a decoy. By accident, the magical fluid within the Eye lands on the statue of the carriage driver, which is revealed to be the actual body of the Emperor. The Emperor is brought back to life, although he remains trapped in his terracotta undead form. Han accepts the service of Choi and Yang but kills Wilson. The woman from the excavation site, Lin, attempts to kill the Emperor with a magical dagger, the only weapon that can destroy him.
Along with Evelyn's brother Jonathan Carnahan, who owns a Shanghai nightclub named Imhotep's, the O'Connells and Lin travel to a stupa in the Himalayas that will reveal the path to Shangri-La when the Eye is placed on top of it. With the help of the Yetis summoned by Lin, the group hold off Yang's soldiers but Emperor discovers the location of Shangri-La. He throws a dagger at Alex, but Rick jumps in the way and is mortally wounded. Using a thrown grenade attached to some dynamite, Alex triggers an avalanche to reach Shangri-La and meet with Zi Yuan. After Lin vouches for the O'Connells, the ancient sorceress heals Rick's wound. The group discover that Lin is Zi Yuan's 2000-year-old daughter, both rendered immortal due to the power of Shangri-La's waters. The magical dagger which Lin carries is the same dagger that the Emperor used to try to kill Zi Yuan years ago,. Zi Yuan also reveals that she would have died if she had not been saved by the Yetis, and warns Alex that if the Emperor is allowed to drink from the Pool of Eternal Life, he will not only be able to raise his army, but be granted the power to transform into ancient and fearsome Chinese animal spirits. Alex and Lin have grown attached to each other, but Lin pushes the relationship away due to her immortality; after watching Zi Yuan mourn General Ming for centuries, she does not want to fall in love with Alex only to watch him grow old and die.
The Emperor eventually arrives and attacks them in Shangri-La and takes the dagger, breaks free of his terracotta form and bathes in the waters, which restores his human form and youth, replenishes his powers, and gives him the ability to shapeshift. He transforms into a gigantic three-headed dragon, kidnaps Lin, and flies to his tomb where he raises the Terracotta Army, now aided by General Yang's soldiers. The Emperor announces his plans to conquer the entire world and that once he leads his army across the Great Wall, they will be invincible. The O'Connells and Zi Yuan pursue the Emperor to the Great Wall where Zi Yuan sacrifices her and Lin's immortality to revive the workers killed and buried beneath The Great Wall, creating an undead army of her own, led by a vengeful, revived General Ming. The Army of the Dead, with aid from the group's modern weapons and air support, fights the Terracotta Army while Zi Yuan battles the Emperor; she is mortally wounded but succeeds in securing the dagger. Alex rescues the captive Lin, who was bound and gagged in a tent under armed guard.
The gang finally catches up, and Lin grieves after they find Zi Yuan dying soon after. Then, Emperor Han transforms into a horned Ogre and goes beneath the Great Wall in order to use his elemental powers to negate Zi Yuan's spell and draw Ming's army back underneath it. However, he is stopped by Alex. Yang and Choi are pushed into moving gears by Evelyn and Lin when they attempt to interfere, crushing and killing them both. Rick and Alex tackle the Emperor with the dagger, but they are overpowered by the Emperor's transformation into an ogre with Alex being knocked unconscious and Rick onto a lit torch and the dagger is broken. Rick questions the Emperor as to where his honor is, and challenges him to a fair fight. His honor called in question, Emperor Han doesn't understand Rick's English, but agrees to fight Rick without using his sword or any of his powers. Rick, however, is still easily outmatched by the superiority of the Emperor's taijutsu skills, overpowered, and knocked across the floor. Alex, meanwhile has come to, grabbed the blade of the dagger, and jumped into the nearby water. Rick sheaths the dagger's hilt and manages to gain the upper hand against the Emperor and ultimately plunge the broken dagger's hilt into his chest while Alex stabs him with the tip of the blade from behind, simultaneously piercing the Emperor's heart from both sides, releasing the dagger's curse. The Emperor is consumed from the inside out by a fury of molten lava, resulting in the death of the Emperor and his army. Ming's army celebrates briefly before finally moving on to a peaceful afterlife.
The O'Connells return to Shanghai, where Alex and Lin fall in love again. Rick and Evelyn, and Alex and Lin, share kisses during a slow dance at a bar. Jonathan decides to move to Peru with the Eye of Shangri-La, which he has stolen himself, as he hopes there are no mummies in Peru. But shortly after his arrival, mummies were discovered in Peru.

Story
Snow White, imprisoned daughter of the late king, escapes just as the Magic Mirror declares her the source of the Evil Queen's immortality. The Queen sends her men, led by a local huntsman to bring her back. But upon her capture, the huntsman finds he's being played and turns against the Queens men, saving Snow White in the process. Meanwhile, Snow's childhood friend, William, learns that she is alive and sets off to save her.

Strange is a movie that immediately establishes its dramatic stakes but spends the rest of the film waiting for the main characters to actually take seemingly obvious action.  But such is the case with Rupert Sander's big-budget Snow White reinvention.  While the idea of retelling Snow White on a more epic scale with bits and pieces from Lord of the Rings thrown in isn't the most inspired idea (Snow White: A Tale of Terror went the Gothic horror route over a decade ago), there remain elements for a primal hero's adventure with a dash of feminist subtext thrown in for good measure.  But the picture seems to go out of its way to dismiss or ignore what shows promise while aimlessly wandering around in a literal and metaphorical dark forest waiting for its inevitable action climax to occur.  It fails at least partially because it strands its lead characters with nowhere to go while stranding its lead heroine with nothing to do.
The film's strongest section is in its initial reel, which gravely recounts how the cunning and magical Ravenna (Charlize Theron) came to power through seduction and murder.  Theron is obviously having a grand time as the wicked queen, and her establishing cruelty quickly gets us on Snow White's (Kristen Stewart) side.  The film flirts with social relevance by giving her a tragic and sympathetic back-story that stems from the all-too familiar idea that a woman's youth and beauty is both her greatest weapon and her only real currency in a male-dominated world.  It's a potent theme that is sadly all-but forgotten and rendered irrelevant after the first act.  In fact, once Snow White narrowly escapes death and finds herself in the dark forest, she and the film both fall into a sleep of sorts.  Oh sure there is temporary humor and energy in Chris Hemsworth's somewhat robust turn as a reluctant hunter sent into the woods to snatch the princess under false pretenses.  But once Snow White escapes, the movie's narrative stops dead for a good 60-75 minutes with nothing of note to justify our interest.

There is one compelling detour, involving a village of widowed/orphaned women who have literally scarred themselves in order to protect themselves from the queen's beauty-obsessed wrath, but it's over in a flash and the film is poorer for its brevity.  Like John Carter from a few months back, this film quickly establishes the core conflict and sits on its butt for most of the running time until our passive hero finally decides to do something about it. And like that mega-budget fantasy film, what happens prior to the big pay off isn't very entertaining and the actual pay off is pretty underwhelming.  Despite the promise of big-scale epic action, Sanders shoots most of the film in that too-close, too-choppy style that renders much of it hard to follow (there is literally one action beat that suggests that Hemsworth is felled by a phantom punch).  The would-be grand finale is merely a few beats of mostly nameless/faceless soldiers bloodlessly hacking at each other before the main protagonists and antagonists face off.  The film runs over two hours and at least 30 minutes of that is spent on tangents that exist only because of fidelity to the would-be source material.  Despite being played by (among others) Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, and Toby Jones, the dwarfs serve no purpose in the overall story and are nothing but a distraction.  Ditto the protracted third-act (...minor spoiler...) sequence involving the whole poison apple and sleeping princess cliche.  Come what may, at least Mirror Mirror knew to ditch that unnecessary diversion.

Snow White herself is a shockingly hollow character who is given no real personality and no character arc of her own.  Say what you will about Lily Collins's flat star turn back in March, but her Snow White actually discovered the queen's cruelty and slowly learned about the injustices that needed to be righted.  No such luck here. Snow White has no character arc, no discernible personality traits, and not a trace of anything that would merit our sympathy other than a tragic childhood and that fact that she's physically attractive, which is ironic considering the initial moralizing. Kristen Stewart has shockingly little to do for the first 100 minutes of the film, and about as much dialogue as routinely given to a Charles Bronson character.  I'm generally a fan of Stewart's, previously saluting her turns in Into the Wild and Adventureland among others while even enjoying her underrated initial turn as Bella Swan in the first Twilight.  But this is a lifeless and artless performance, and it frankly it would bad enough to hurt her career as a big-studio lead if she seemingly had any interest in such a thing (she's allegedly quite good in On the Road).

Charlize Theron is terrific when she's onscreen, but she pretty much exits the film after the first 40 minutes and her screen-time after that amounts to a cameo.  Sam Claflin is just as dull here as he was in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and is quickly becoming the go-to actor for boring boy-ish love interests.  On a slight digression, the film never explains why he can morally justify teaming up with the bad guys in order to also track down Snow White, turning a blind eye as innocents are murdered in front of him.  Sam Spruell is somewhat engaging as the queen's loyal brother (he's the villain that actually engages in onscreen action as opposed to sitting in the castle), with his best moment being a blink-and-you-miss it moment that implies that his relationship with the queen may be incestuous.

We have a flat and lifeless narrative punctuated by unimpressive and choppy action, a fascinating feminist subtext that is dropped in favor of generic heroics. All of this is rounded out by interesting characters who aren't onscreen enough and uninteresting characters that dominate the latter 2/3 of the film. Snow White and the Huntsman is a failure both as a reinvention and a movie. It earns points for production value, Theron and Hemsworths' respective star turns, and for a promising initial reel that makes promises the film can't keep.  But like John Carter, Snow White and the Huntsman goes nowhere and takes forever to get there.  Just because it makes an effort to be a real movie doesn't justify its failure as a quality film.

Story

Young Jim Hawkins is the only one who can sucessfully get a schooner to a legendary Island known for buried Treasure. But aboard the ship is a mysterious cook named John Silver, whose true motivation on the journey challenges Jim's trust in the entire crew.

Stevenson's Treasure Island was one of my favorite childhood books I used to read over and over again. Currently I can't remember its nuances - the plot of course I do - and I enjoyed the 2012 version. Background and costumes seems realistic and one can notice at once that it non-US movie - compared to Pirates of the Caribbean, for example.

Izzard, Regbo, Sutherland and Wood are very good, the rest are just above average - or their characters are too "simple" to make some real shine out of them. On the other hand, it is good that no one really steals the show as Depp does when portraying Jack Sparrow. Fight scenes, collusions etc are also more "medieval" here.

In short, highly recommended for those fond of historic adventures, and not seeking deep philosophy or reasoning.

in October 2009, the filmmakers went into an abandoned psychiatric hospital to explore the 'haunted' institution, famous for its radical treatment of patients with mental illness. Electroshock, insulin therapy, and lobotomies were commonplace. Once inside, the filmmakers quickly discovered that they were not alone; this story is based on their experiences

I am an aspiring filmmaker and a fan of 'found footage' films such as 'Chronicle, Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project'. I went to see this film in Dubai with zero or no expectations at all having not heard any negative or positive reviews.

If I were to give the review in a nutshell, it would be "Nothing". The film makers dwell in to a mental hospital with a hand-held shaky cam trying to film the supernatural in the supposed 'Haunted Hospital'. What we are shown during the length of the film are poorly lit and edited clips coupled with awful sound bytes that do nothing for the film.

I wish Sean Stone the best of luck for the future but in my opinion, this film should have been a short 20 minute submission to perhaps an indie film festival.

About Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (also known as Anaconda 2: The Black Orchid, Anaconda 2: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, or just simply Anaconda 2) a 2004 horror-thriller film and sequel to the 1997 film Anaconda. It was directed by Dwight H. Little and was released in the United States on August 27, 2004. The plot of the movie entails a group of explorers looking for a sacred flower that they believe will bring humans a longer and healthier life, or maybe even cure cancer. The origin of the giant anaconda of the first film is also explained. The movie was followed by the made-for-television sequel Anaconda

Story

In New York, the ambitious Dr. Jack Byron and his associate Gordon Mitchell present the research of his assistant Sam Rogers to the CEO and board of directors of a corporation to sponsor a scientific expedition to Borneo. The objective is to find a flower, Blood Orchid, that flourishes for a couple of weeks every seven years and could be a fountain of youth, prolonging the expectation of life of human beings. They are succeeded and once in Borneo, they realize that it is the raining season and there is no boat available to navigate on the river. They pay US$ 50,000.00 to convince Captain Bill Johnson and his partner Tran to sail to the location. After an accident in a waterfall, the survivors realize that a pack of anacondas have gathered for mating and their nest is nearby the plantation of Blood Orchid, which made them bigger and bigger

About Anaconda

Anaconda is a 1997 adventure-horror film, directed by Luis Llosa, starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, Owen Wilson, and Kari Wuhrer. It centers around a film crew for National Geographic who are kidnapped by a hunter who is going after the world's largest giant anaconda, which is discovered in the Amazon Rainforest. Though the film received negative reviews from critics, it was a box office hit. It was followed by three sequels.

Story

When a documentary crew traveling through the Amazon jungle, picks up a stranded man, they are unaware of the trouble that will occur. This stranger's hobby is to capture the giant Anaconda snake, and plans to continue targeting it on their boat, by any means necessary.

Detailed story

Shooting a documentary about a long-lost Indian tribe on the Amazon River known as the Shirishama tribe, director Terri Flores (Jennifer Lopez) and members of her crew, including cameraman Danny Rich (Ice Cube), production manager Denise Kalberg (Kari Wuhrer), sound engineer Gary Dixon (Owen Wilson), visionary Warren Westridge (Jonathan Hyde), anthropologist Professor Steven Cale (Eric Stoltz) and captain of the boat Mateo (Vincent Castellanos), comes across stranded Paraguayan snake hunter Paul Sarone (Jon Voight) and helps him, believing he knows how to find the tribe they are searching for. But Sarone acts strangely and the crew suspects something.
While trying to free the boat's propeller from a rope, Cale is stung in the throat by a wasp inside his scuba gear, leaving him unconscious. With that, Sarone takes command of the boat and the crew. They are then forced to help him achieve his true objective — hunting down and capturing a record-breaking Green Anaconda he had been tracking.
Mateo is the first of the crew to be killed by the anaconda, which strangles him to death near a boat where a poacher (Danny Trejo) had been killed at the beginning of the film. The others try to find him while Gary sides with Sarone, who promises if they help him find the anaconda, he will help them get out alive. Ironically, Gary is killed next when they attempt to capture the anaconda. The survivors overcome Sarone and tie him up. When Denise attempts to kill Sarone, he gets the edge and chokes her before dumping her body in the river where she drowns. The anaconda returns and kills Westridge, only to be shot dead and Sarone incapacitated by the newly awakened Cale (who later loses consciousness again). Danny punches Sarone, knocking him into the river.
Later on, Terri and Danny, two of the surviving members of the crew, are captured when Sarone catches up to them. He dumps a bucket of monkey blood on them and then uses them as bait in an attempt to capture a second, larger anaconda. The anaconda wraps around Terri and Danny and begins to suffocate them. They are caught in a net by Sarone, but the snake breaks free. Terri and Danny cut their bonds and slip away as Sarone, himself, is killed by the snake. Terri finds a nest of baby anacondas in a building, but the snake arrives, and after regurgitating Sarone's body, chases her up a smoke stack. The snake becomes trapped in the smoke stack, whereupon Danny ignites a fire below and burns the snake alive. As Terri and Danny recuperate on a nearby dock, the snake appears one final time. Danny beats the anaconda with an axe until it is finally dead.
Afterwards, Terri and Danny reunite with Cale, who begins to revive on the boat. As they float down the river, they accidentally locate the natives for whom they were originally searching. They realize Sarone was right and begin filming their documentary as the movie ends.

Story
Picking up immediately where Anaconda 3 left off, herpetologist Amanda Hayes finally learns her employer Murdoch's true colors when he hires a doctor to harvest a fresh supply of blood orchids to experiment with the regenerative nectar on a baby snake in order to seek treatment for his own terminal illness. Amanda is forced to secretly bring together another team of scientists whom face off against a heavily armed squad of Murdoch's men to steal the coveted orchids before the killer Anaconda hunts both parties down.
A baby anaconda, captured at the end of Anaconda 3: Offspring, is being used for experiments by a scientist. He creates a hybrid of the blood orchids from Borneo that enabled the anaconda to grow so large and live so long, and creates a serum for cell regeneration. When he disappears and the snake escapes, Murdoch, a billionaire suffering from bone cancer, sends a team to find him (Eugene leading Jackie, Leila, Hakeem, and Armon) and the serum because that serum can cure him. He also tells them to be careful of Dr. Amanda Hayes, and to kill her if needed. Dr. Amanda Hayes and two officers also go in search of the scientist, determined to destroy the serum and kill the snake.
On the way they meet Alex, a trekker who appears lost in the Carpathians while doing a pathology project. The two groups encounter more people (Scott, Jackson, Patrick, Wendy and Heather) who are holidaying and trekking but get dragged into the search for the snake. Due to the serum, the anaconda can no longer die without significant damage to its internal organs. During the course of the film, Heather gets poisoned and falls ill due to an unknown insect bite. Most of the people are attacked and eaten by the snake. It first kills an unnamed hunter working for Murdoch. When the other hunters find Hayes, her group and Jackson's group, they shoot an already injured Patrick (bitten by the snake) and Wendy for trying to escape.
The snake finds them and devours Leila, and Hakeem. Amanda and Jackson are forced to find the serum, and are accompanied by two henchmen of Eugene to find the serum. They put up at the scientist's house. There the two find the serum but keep it hidden. The anaconda strikes the house and devours one gunman, and while the other is trying to fight it off, Amanda and Alex escape. Jackie corners them, but is taken by surprise by Jackson. The snake attacks Jackie and he blows himself accidentally. It then chases Amanda and Jackson. Jackson sacrifices himself to the snake to buy time for Amanda to run. In one attempt to destroy the snake Amanda throws a gasoline tank at the snake then explodes the gasoline tank, which then splits the snake in two, but the snake regenerates.
Back at the basecamp, Murdoch appears, but is in for a rude shock when he sees that his arch enemy is also there, and that Eugene has joined hands with the latter. Seeing the melee they are in, Scott stabs Eugene, makes him shoot Murdoch's rival and then fights Armon but is shot by the latter. As he is going to kill Scott, there bursts Amanda, shooting Armon. Murdoch then appears and demands that Amanda give him the serum. As they do that, he keeps his word not to kill them, and tells them to leave. As the remaining survivors leave in the jeep, Murdoch injects himself with the serum and discovers that the serum works, but is killed by the anaconda. The anaconda then pursues the survivors: Amanda, Jackson, Alex, Chanel and Heather who are in a car with one of Murdoch's hunters, Eugene, who clings on the back of the jeep and grabs Jackson. Amanda kicks him out of the car with two grenades in hand. While the snake devours him the snake is blown to bits. As Amanda, Jackson, Chanel, Alex and Heather leave, the anaconda, who seems to have regenerated, appears and slithers into the forest

User Reviews
Let's start it of with the acting. When I watch a movie, I expect it to feel real. I expect it to feel natural. When I was watching this movie I felt horrified by how the directors can actually think that people start dialogs like they do in this movie.

The effects does not feel real and the plot has definitely been used before. And the way the movie flow and the way things happen, feel so fake. And not like some kind of Quentin Tarantino movie either.
To top it all of I feel like they made the wrong actors play the wrong characters. None of the voices feel like a fit.
Still, if you are really bored, You could watch it. But you should not watch this film to be amused.

Story
Retired military commander Colonel Dale Murphy hosts the simulated post-apocalyptic reality show where participants are challenged to survive a remote West Virginia wasteland. But the show turns into a nightmarish showdown when each realizes they are being hunted by an inbred family of cannibals determined to make them all dinner.
Reality show contestant, Kimberly is driving through the West Virginia back country searching for the location of her next project. When driving, she accidentally hits a teenager. She stops to check on him, but the teenager reveals to be a cannibal and bites her lips off. She attempts to escape but runs to Three-Finger, who splits her in half with an axe. The two drag her body halves off.
Former U.S. Marine Colonel Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) hosted a survival reality game show in the West Virginia Forest and the other contestants: promiscuous Elena (Crystal Lowe), wisecracking skateboarder Jonesy (Steve Braun), U.S. Marine officer and Iraq veteran Amber (Daniella Alonso), former high school football player Jake Washington (Texas Battle) & a goth Nina Papas (Erica Leerhsen) starting to wait in production. After Kimberly does not show up, the show's producer Mara (Aleksa Palladino) steps into her place.
As the game starts, Three-Finger kills Neil, one of the television crew, scalps him and wears his scalp as a hair piece. When Dale prepares to set the games, Three-Finger and another cannibal, "Pa" attacks Dale before Pa knocks him unconscious. Nina and Mara find a log cabin in the woods. Mara enters the cabin to try to find a telephone as Nina follows her. When they check the house, they hear the occupants return and force themselves to hide in the bedroom. They witness a female cannibal, "Ma" giving birth to a mutant deformed baby. Her daughter, "Sister" spots them at the bedroom but Nina and Mara manage to escape to the toilet pit. They run away into the woods, but Mara is hit in the head with an axe. As the cannibals drive up with Mara's body, Nina sets off to find the others.
After M (Matthew Currie Holmes) and Elena had oral sex, He returns to the RV as Elena stays in the lake. When Elena hears the cannibals and the alarm setting off, she starts to get dressed as Sister emerges out of the bushes and slashes Elena to death with a machete. While M is in the RV, he witnesses the cannibals driving it. Pa attacks M before returning to the cabin. Meanwhile, Dale manages to escape himself and fights Three-Finger. After a short fight, Dale shoots Three-Finger with a shotgun.
As Jake, Amber and Jonesy were eating some meat, Nina returns and tells her story. When Jake realizes it was Kimberly's leg they had been eating, He, Nina, Amber and Jonesy attempt to escape. Dale finds an old man in his cabin. The old man tells him how the cannibals' mutations were caused by effluent dumped in the river by the abandoned paper mill and then reveals that he is their father and attacks Dale. After a brief skirmish, Dale kills the old man by blowing him up with a stick of dynamite. After finding the RV gone, they run towards the woods and encounter Brother and Sister. After fighting the cannibals, Jake searches for Nina while Amber and Jonesy go for help. Jake rescues Nina from the pit and they jump into the river.
After Amber and Jonesy are killed in a trap, Nina and Jake make it to the mill. They enter the mill and find a garage full of vehicles stolen from the victims. They find the RV and Jake enters and witnesses M being decapitated from a live feed monitor inside. He and Nina attempt to leave but Sister and Pa capture them both. The abandoned mill is revealed to be the mutant's home. Jake is strung up and Nina is strapped to a chair with barbed wire at the table. The mutants eat dinner, also force feeding Nina.
Dale sneaks into the compound and distracts the cannibals. As the cannibals were searching for him, Dale manages to kill Brother and Sister with a dynamite attached to an arrow. He frees Nina and Jake, but Dale is killed by Pa and Ma, who were incensed by the deaths of their children. Nina successfully escapes, but Jake wanders in a room fitted an enormous tree de-barker before he was pursued by Ma and Pa. Nina returns to the mill and manages to kill Pa and Ma by pushing them into the de-barker. They find Kimberly's abandoned car and drive away to safety. Meanwhile in the river, Three-Finger is shown feeding his newborn mutant son, Three-Toe with a finger and a bottle filled with nuclear waste. His laugh is heard as the credits roll.

Reviews
In Greenbrier Back Country, West Virginia, the retired military Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) is hosting a tough survivor show where the winner takes US$ 100,000.00. The proposal of the reality show is to survive in the woods in the most adverse conditions, following predetermined rules. Sooner the contestants find that they are really fighting to survive against a strong, sadistic and violent cannibalistic family with the appearance of monsters. Further, Colonel Dale discloses that many years ago, an abandoned pulp mill released chemical wastes on the creek, killing the animals and transforming the descendants of a local family in deformed mutants. Without animals to hunt or fish to catch, the next generation chases travelers to feed themselves.
"Wrong Turn 2: Dead End" has an unoriginal story that I have seen many times, and seems to be a replay of parts of many other movies, like for example "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Hills Have Eyes", "Timber Falls", "Wrong Turn" plus breasts of a sexy girl and a collection of clichés of the genre. However, this film is surprisingly good, having more gore and originality in the deaths than the usual; and works, hooking the attention of the viewer until the very last scene. The death of Kimberly Caldwell in the beginning gives a great introduction of how bloody this film is. When I see this type of movie, I try to guess what will happen to the potential victims, if they will survive or die, and the gore resolution of this movie is good. The make-up and the special effects are impressive. In my opinion, fans of the genre will not be disappointed with this film.
